Ten Hours to Scaffold a Building. We Did It in Seven and a Half.

The job
Scaffworld Ireland was contacted by a commercial customer who needed the entire outside façade of a building scaffolded.
We were given a ten-hour window.
We started at six in the morning. We were finished by half one.
That is not luck, and it is not us cutting corners to beat a clock. It is what happens when the job is looked at properly before anybody lifts a fitting, when the right plant is on site, and when the crew putting it up actually knows what they are doing.

Here is what sat behind those seven and a half hours — and, more usefully, here is how you can tell whether the company quoting for your job could do the same.
Scaffolding is not the place to save money
Scaffolding is the only thing on a site that is designed to hold people in the air. Everything else can fail and cost you money. Scaffolding fails and it costs somebody a great deal more than that.
And yet it is routinely awarded on price, over the phone, to whoever can be there on Monday.
Whether you are a developer putting a package out or a homeowner who just needs the gable reached, understand where the risk lands: it does not stop with the scaffolding company. Duties under Irish safety law fall on clients and contractors too. If you engaged a company that was not competent to do the work, "they told me they were grand" has never been a defence that worked for anybody.
You are not buying steel. You are buying somebody else's competence, and you are relying on it completely.
